Walmart

Via Walmart’s Volunteerism Always Pays (VAP) program, Walmart offers grants for its employees and that of Sam’s Club employees who volunteer with nonprofit organizations.

Each Walmart associate has access to request two volunteer grants per organization per year. Associates can ask for grants for up to two organizations for a maximum of four total volunteer grants every year. Walmart accepts applications for community grants starting from $250-$2,500.

Disney

Disney gives access to full-time and part-time employees to double their donations to all types of nonprofits with their generous matching gift program.

Disney matches a minimum of $25 and doubles donations all the way up to $15,000.

Employees are to register their donations online and then email the matching gift certificate to the nonprofit. This certificate comprises of a Gift ID which the nonprofit then utilize to claim the matching donation. Disney provides financial and in-kind donations to the following groups, organizations, and causes:

  • Military families
  • Disaster preparedness and relief
  • Children’s hospitals
  • Environmental organizations
  • Organizations that promote healthy lifestyles.

Dell

Texas, Dell is a multinational computer technology company, headquartered in Round, Texas. Dell is particularly known for it’s “build-to-order” or “configure-to-order” approach, with which it delivers individual PCs configured to customer specifications. Dell came on-board in 1984 and currently employs over 100,000 people around the globe.

Dell provides a very similar program to both Microsoft and Outerwall.

This means that for every ten hours an employee volunteers with a nonprofit, Dell offers a grant of $150 to the organization. ($15 per hour).

The company also matches employee donations up to $10,000 annually.

Highlight: Employees have access to request one volunteer grant per quarter for a total of $600 annually.

Microsoft

Microsoft stands as a multinational technology company based in Washington. Microsoft was founded in 1975 by Bill Gates and currently employs over 130,000 people globally. The company is renowned for its personal computers, office software, as well as video platforms.

Microsoft in 2005 founded a Dollars for Doers Program via which the company offers $25 grants for every hour a Microsoft employee volunteers. In it’s most recent fiscal year, more than 4,900 employees participated in the company’s volunteer grant program, and collectively, they volunteered for over 430,000 hours.

Apple is known to have an extremely generous employee matching gift program.

The company matches donations as small as $1 upwards to $10,000 per employee per year to nearly all 501(c)(3) organizations.

Full-and part-time employees are eligible, and Apple offers a volunteer grant program that offers grants to nonprofits where employees volunteer on a regular basis. There is no minimum threshold, and Apple employees are to log their volunteer hours and request grants in the company’s online giving portal.

Pepsi

Pepsi enables part-time and full-time employees to double their donations with a 1.1 matching ratio. Thus employees must submit their matching gift deadlines online and within six months of the donation date.

Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola offers a matching program for employees via which the company triples donations to educational organizations, arts & cultural organizations and environmental groups.

ExxonMobil

ExxonMobil has multiple types of employee giving programs and offers a generous matching gift program by offering 3:1 matches to educational institutions and 1:1 matches to other eligible organizations.

For every 20 hours an employee volunteers, the company offers a $500 grant to the nonprofit ($25 per hour volunteered).

Sony

SONY gives a matching gift program to full-time and part-time employees and retirees.

Donations from $50 to $2,000 at a 1:1 ratio. SONY focuses it’s social responsibility efforts on helping local communities, investing in education, supporting the arts, helping underserved youths, as well as protecting the environment.

SONY does not have a volunteer grant program, but place a heavy emphasis on volunteerism across all of the various areas they support.
