TURNING ON INCOGNITO MODE IN YOUR BROWSER

There are times when it becomes necessary to browse in private mode. Here, anything you search for and all websites visited will not show up in your browsing history. Browsing INCOGNITO is the way to go when you want to look up things considered embarrassing or researching for things you do not want others to know.

Incognito mode however does not hide or mask your IP address. It prevents the browser from recording your session data. One would have to use a VPN, Tor Browser, or a proxy server to hide his or her IP address.

Turning Incognito Mode in Google Chrome

Opening a private session in Chrome:

1. Select the Chrome Menu from the upper-right corner
2. Select New Incognito Window
3. A window comes up, explaining the Chrome Incognito mode
4. Right-click on the opened window and select Open in an incognito window

Using InPrivate Browsing in Microsoft Edge

Incognito browsing is obtained in the Microsoft Edge through the InPrivate Browsing function. This is done by:

1. Open the Edge browser and select the More Actions Menu
2. Select New InPrivate Window
3. A window comes up, explaining the Edge InPrivate Browsing mode

For Windows computer, you can use the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl + Shift +P) to quickly move to an inPrivate browsing window.

InPrivate Browsing in Internet Explorer

To do this:

1. Firstly, Open Internet Explorer
2. Secondly, Select the tools menu in the upper right corner of the browser window
3. Hover over Safety
4. In addition, Select InPrivate Browsing
5. Make sure the URL is preceded by InPrivate

Turning on Private Browsing on Firefox

To go incognito on Firefox, we do the following:

1. Firstly, Select the Firefox Menu
2. Secondly, Choose or select New Private Window
3. A Firefox private browsing window opens
4. Right-click the window, then choose open link in New
5.  Window

To quickly open a Firefox private browsing window, press Shift + Command + P on Mac and Control + Shift + P on a Windows PC

To enter Firefox Private Browsing mode on an IOS device:

1. Tap the tabs icon at the bottom
2. Tap the Mask icon

Incognito browsing in Apple Safari

1. Open Safari on a Mac
2. Select File from the menu bar

3.select New Private Window, a window opens with a message that Private browsing is                                         enabled

4. Select Tools, then go to private browsing and press OK

Opening Private Windows in Opera

Going to the private mode in the Opera web browser entails:

1. Firstly, Open Opera on a PC or Mac
2. Secondly, Select file from the menu bar and move to New Private Window
3. Furthermore, A window explaining Opera’s private mode comes up
4. Lastly, Right-click the window and select Open in New Private window
